Acer, the global PC and laptop manufacturers, have recently launched a brand new 3D capable laptop, in the form of the Aspire 5745DG.

Acer have gone down the ever popular active shutter route in partnering with Nvidia to provide 3D viewing in conjunction with it’s own 15.6″ widescreen 120Hz LCD display and the Nividia 3D Vision technology.

The basic model is fully customisable and can therefore come in a variety of specifications. The main options lie in the CPU and the Aspire 5745DG is available with either Intel Core i3, i5 or the top end i7 processors. Partnering the multi-cored CPU is the Nividia GT 425M graphics card from Nividia. A DVD writer can be upgraded to a Blu-ray DVD drive to watch HD content, but of course this will be limited slightly by the screen’s 1366×768 resolution, which is not the most generous for a 15.6″ panel.

Other features of note are 802.11n Wi-Fi, a Gigabit LAN port, Bluetooth connectivity, built-in webcam and 9 cell Li-on battery. RAM and hard drive options can be further specified. Software-wise, Acer supply their rether natty Arcade Deluxe application for the conversion of standard 2D movies in to 3D – on the fly!

Expect to pay around £900 for one of these beauties but the price will, of course, vary on your chosen specification.
